I have lived in Santa Cruz County my entire life and I am excited to be running for 5th District Supervisor to represent you.  I look forward to the opportunity to hear from you about the issues that are important to you and your family. 

My wife, Mary, and I raised our family here, as did three previous generations of my family.  Our kids went to local public schools and I operated a prominent business before you elected me to serve as your Senator and Assemblymember in the California Legislature.

As your Supervisor, I will focus on the needs of 5th District residents, improve our local economy, protect our environment and make county government more effective.  In this non-partisan office, I will work hard to enhance police, sheriff, and fire protection, improve our roads and make sure the 5th District gets the essential public services we rely on. Throughout my career I have been recognized as someone who listens to people, understands their concerns, and works to reach an effective compromise to find solutions that will benefit our community.

As your Supervisor, I will work hard for you and your family.  My door will always be open to your ideas on how we can improve our community not only for ourselves, but for future generations.

I would be honored to earn your vote on June 5.
